Today’s blog post has been delayed on account of biblical plagues: visited upon me. The show goes on, however. I want to dedicate today’s post to Linda's unusual way of remembering our trips; Munich’s wheat beer and dumpf Noodle, Berlin’s Chocolate Nuttella on crepes, and Venice’s roasted cashews. Then there is Kyoto’s Korean BBQ, and Linda love of Tokyo’s snack pancakes with fillings on the way to Shinjinku station. And, of course, the soup halfway up from the 14th century bridge in Prague, as well as her delight in the alcoholic slushie bar in New Orleans’ French Quarter and my trying to explain that a “B-52 Bomber” really WAS more than just a name for a drink. For all the cities and the theme that seems to emerge from how you remember them, this one is for you…

Ahhh...someone else who remembers cities for the food! :)
I hope the plagues let up soon. *hugs*
*snerk* The video ground Liam to a complete halt; at the end, he managed "Good. Lord." Not sure what he meant, but pretty funny and it took his mind ofr the fact he got braces on today.
I too associate places with particular meals or cuisines. THIRTY YEARS after visiting Dubrovnik, Yugoslavia I still remember the fabulous goat cheese and the best bread, hands down, I have ever eaten.
*sigh*
Wonder what's in the fridge...
Dear Beth,
Thanks so much for the smile -I needed one today. Cute & amusing. And lots of girls with cat ears.
Hope the plagues will cease their attacks.

Hilarious, and you can hardly count that as delayed.
I hope the locusts clear out soon.
Yes, Linda; the B-52 is not only an airplane, it's also a band and a drink. The drink is made of Bailey's, Grand Marnier and Kahlua. The band, known for "Rock Lobster" and "Love Shack," actually took their name from a type of beehive hairstyle. Which was named that because it supposedly looked like the nose of a B-52 bomber...
I know, more than you ever wanted to know...
Lorna, my reaction at the end of the video was: "Wha..?"
I am hoping the biblical plagues have left you now...
Hmmm, I spent a week in Santa Fe and I can remember a bunch of great restaurants and excellent meals but the only sight seeing thimg I can easily recall is the Georgia O'Keefe museum and gallery.
I'm also part of the group who associates food with places I have visited.
I believe locusts can be salted and eaten. (That doesn't work even as a metaphor, does it? I'm wishing you an end to your plagues, anyway.)
I used your strawberry parcel tape today: it comes out only for those who I think will especially appreciate it, or who I think need a little cheer.
I remember Paris as the home of mostly bad, and uninspiring food (it didn't help that I am *not* a foodie, and a vegetarian averse to cheese which tastes of cheese); but also crepes and truly wonderful pains au chocolat, Ur-pains au chocolat. & real hot chocolate, tasting more of chocolate than merely of sweetness.
I tend to like to see history and connect it to the great story of humans - plus remember the books I bought at different shops. I talk museums, Linda talks food. I learn to go with the flow - and I have better burgers due to that.
doesn't everyone remember vacations by food? In my family, to make sure we remember, we usually take pictures of our vacation meals. Other people think we're weird. ;)
For me, my memories of trips to Canada is a lot about food: Victoria is Korean hot-pot... (and white chocolate-raspberry-macadamia cheesecake!), Vancouver is home-made chowder and a glass of ale at Granville Island, Salt Spring is halibut, caught that morning and thrown on the barbecue, Prince Rupert is veggie enchilada and cornbread, Port Hardy was the best ever Greek spinach and goats cheese pastries (in what must be the cleanest and most welcoming cafe of all time) and the Queen Charlottes is the absolute freshest shrimp (we pulled the pots up ourselves). What I mean is that if I ever have those foods, anywhere, I am taken straight back to those places and reminded of the beautiful scenery and wonderful experiences. Mind you, people in Canada do seem to eat a lot (OK by me!) so that may be why.
So, maybe I'm with Linda on this one. On the other hand, I also remember the views, the art, the buildings, the sound of the city streets and the birdsong, the smell of the flowers and the baking bread... oops, food again!
Love & peace
