New addition to family, cats and a care day away.

Here is Linda with the new addition to the family (and child) – though Linda is leaning towards a Daddy Polar Bear, and wants to come back and get a leather jacket for the Dad (is Dad gay? Is he a Bear?). No name picked yet as the name has to be the ‘right’ one for both of them.

Thanks to some wack-on-the-head advice I realized that I had be remiss in the caring and loving outside of the care-giving and receiving aspects for a while. So I took Linda to get her OWN plushie (After all she did get me Eiki-Eiki (the rabbit) and someone got me Pounce and a friend got me Rabid, that squirrel I have in the study). So we looked online and we looked in the store and she found the right animal and then the right type of face, not the dim, “I’ve just been hit by a frying pan” type of stuffie face. Then there was the child (as some stuffies even come with magnets in the mouth to carry the young around, but Polar Bears don’t do that, the young follow or hang on the body). Linda was pleased, I think we were all pleased!
Afterwards we took a visit to the RSPCA cat shelter and Cheryl found this beautiful and loving cat named TJ, who had one eye. Cheryl wanted to take it home but not possible, sorry.

After that will have to be another blog, I need to do postcards! But we did come home and Linda took the rest of the day and evening off, having dinner out and a movie among other things (which she can tell you if she wants), having a REAL care giver rest while Cheryl did a great job taking care of me. Worked out well all around.

I’ll let you know when our new additions have names. I thing something cuddly like, “ThroatSlasher”, or “Ripper” is nice. Linda says that is not the type of cuddly she wants.

Awww, that stuffie definitely has a nice face! It's very important to check out the expressions...

And glad to hear that Linda got a break.

The plushies are great!

I'm glad you & Linda are doing better and that she got a break. You sound a bit happier, too.

ThroatSlasher? Well, it does have a certain ring to it. Very...erm... protective?

Glad you're both happier now.

I'm glad you were able to go to the build-a-bear place (always a fun place to go) and to see some of the kitties--sounds like fun.

What a sweet polar bear. And a sweet kitty.

Good luck with the postcards. Hope you can get what you want done without too severe aftermath from your body.

It was fun at the build a bear store watching Linda pick out just the right stuffie. They had many cute choices. You are right that facial expression and conveyed personality are very important. Maybe the bear is a Harley rider not a leather daddy. I still fnd it hard imagining Lnda hanging out with a biker guy although I suppose it’s different if the guy is a polar bear stuffie. Is its name Harley?

If only I didn’t live in an absolutely no pets rental. I really love TJ and would have happily taken him home if I could. He’s a real sweetheart – affectionate and calm.

Breaks are good for all.

Had to chuckle over the "hit by a frying pan" comment - what is the appeal of vacuous, neotenous, and commonly somewhat creepy stuffed toys? Bears are surely meant to be at least a little fierce.

We got a new addition to our plushie family too. He arrived last week. He's a cute Panda named Beckett. He's from a bookstore (where Dennis works) & came with that name. I'm not sure if the name refers to Becket the playwrite or to the archbishop. Congrats to Linda new Mum & grandmother!
Glad you got to visit with the kitties! And that Linda had some time off.

How about Fang for a name? No? Well, it seemed like a good idea.

I add my happy noises for Linda getting a break, even if it was a short one.

Love and zen hugs,
Neil

Cheryl, see about getting a prescription for a cat as a "medically necessary" item. I did that with my cat 12 years ago. "Psychologically necessary." That way I could get into animal-prohibited apartments by way of the ADA.

Which Canada should have.

Yeah, Linda looks more like a stuffed bear type of person.

Congrats on the new family members. I know the right names will come.

What a cute kitty! Too bad he couldn't go home with Cheryl. They look like a good pair.

JAne B: Thanks, Linda was really happy for the break and we are going to try to make it part of a weekly thing now. Like, um bed days.

Wendryn: Yes, plushies good. I am happier because I feel more secure. When Linda is happy, things are nice not scary.

Lene: Well, those were just braintorming.

Frida: It is a fun place, there was a birthday party going on there. The kittens were complicateed (next post).

Rachel: Yes, the polar bear is very cute, not as intense as Rabid but we each have plushies to suit us - Linda's non-caregiving side had not been nutured enough lately.

Yeah postcards were a problem (next post).

Cheryl: Well, Linda really likes Leather Jackets, and when I first met her had one and has one now, I think she things leather jackets are just cool instead of a leather daddy.

Baba Yaga: I find the expression to be all important, there is no way I can anthropamorphize a plushie unless there is a unique expression which I can relate to.

Sharon: Thanks, I am glad Linda got some time off as well, just 'her' to do with as she wanted, go where she wanted. Freedom of choice is something we have to fight to maintain. Congrats on your new plushie.

Neil: Yeah, Linda rejected Fang, sorry.

Stephanie: I like Ripper as well!

Raccoon: she said she didn't go in for a bear but that is what drew her in the end, she wanted a dog or a different bear but the polar bear it was.

I have a medical note for psychological need - but unless it is a service animal I can't have one, Cheryl could though as she lives in the US!

Yanub: Thanks, I will keep you updated.
